Small-Business AI Brief
Week of Sep 28–Oct 4, 2026 · News cutoff Oct 4, 2026, 11:59 pm Pacific
The week in one sentence
ChatGPT Pages gives small teams a shared document for drafting and feedback; the useful first test is whether one short rewrite becomes easier to review.
What changed
OpenAI introduced Pages and ChatGPT Space in its September 29 DevDay recap. Pages are documents people can work on with ChatGPT, while Space groups related work. The announcement lists Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans, with creation and editing on desktop and web. Mobile finding, reading, and sharing were available at launch; mobile creation and editing were still forthcoming.
The September 29 release notes explain the practical changes: start a Page from a conversation or template, edit its text yourself, ask ChatGPT for revisions, and let collaborators comment on the same document. Availability and sharing depend on the account and workspace settings. Check that Pages is already available and permitted before planning a trial.
These are vendor descriptions of a new editing surface. They do not establish that a team writes better or finishes sooner.
Why it matters to a small business
Our interpretation: the useful question is where the review happens. A shop owner might draft a short description in a chat, copy it into a document, and then reconcile a colleague’s feedback elsewhere. Keeping a draft and its feedback together could make that handoff easier to follow.
That is a possibility to test, not a measured benefit. One shared document can still contain unsupported claims, missed corrections, or edits the reviewer did not intend. The owner needs to judge the final wording against the original source.
What we predicted / What happened
Our September 14–20 brief, published September 21, predicted that Google would publish a worked example of notebooks in Gemini producing a business document from multiple sources by October 19. The proof signal required the source materials and resulting draft. The OpenAI announcements checked for this issue do not establish that Google-specific signal. Status: Not yet; the deadline has not arrived. This is the previous published issue, not a claim that we covered the intervening week.
Our take on what comes next
Editorial opinion: a new place to write earns its keep only when reviewing the work is straightforward. Test one short draft before moving a recurring process. We have not tested Pages for this brief, and we have no measured evidence of time savings or writing quality.
Your move this week
Verdict: TEST. Allow 25 minutes, including setup and review. Use an account where Pages is already available and approved. If it is unavailable, keep your existing workflow; this test does not require a purchase, new app connection, or administrator change.
- Choose one public paragraph you own. Use 100–150 words describing an ordinary product or your shop’s public story. List three facts the rewrite must preserve. Keep private records and customer messages out of the task.
- Record a baseline. Make one short rewrite in your usual editor and note how long drafting and checking take.
- Create one Page draft. Paste only the selected public text. Ask for a clearer version using the prompt below. Keep the original alongside it so every change can be checked.
- Complete one review pass. Check the three facts and count unsupported additions and corrections. If a colleague is already permitted to collaborate, use comments for that pass; otherwise review it yourself. Manually verify the final text after revisions.
- Decide whether to repeat it. Stop at 25 minutes. Record setup, drafting, and review time separately, plus any feedback that was lost or misunderstood. Keep the workflow only if the checked result and review experience justify another trial. Publishing the text is a separate decision.
Evergreen cheat sheet
Prompt to adapt: Rewrite this public paragraph in plain English for a first-time reader. Preserve these three facts. Use only the supplied text; do not add claims or fill gaps. Put the draft beside a short list of changes so I can review them.
Use the First Workflow Scorecard to record time, corrections, and your keep-or-drop decision. A generated change list is a review aid; compare the actual text yourself.
Prediction Tracker
Prediction — editorial opinion: by November 2, 2026, OpenAI will announce mobile creation and editing for Pages. Proof signal: a dated official release note explicitly says users can create and edit Pages on iOS or Android, rather than only read or share them. Status: Not yet. The September 29 recap describes mobile creation and editing as forthcoming, with no promised date. Our November 2 horizon is our forecast, not OpenAI’s commitment.
